JoDee 'Feisty' Allen

JoDee Nadene Allen, a.k.a b-girl Feisty, started Breaking in 2000 and has trained with street dance legends such as Ken Swift, Zulu Gremlin, and Don Campbellock. In 2004, JoDee was one of only 30 dancers selected world wide to attend the prestigious Redbull Beatriders Street Dance training camp. She has studied House dancing in Montreal, Los Angeles and Miami, and has been an active member of the Montreal Breakdance Community for the past 8 years.

JoDee received her B.FA degree in Contemporary Dance from Concordia University in 1999. After graduation she worked as an interpreter for ‘Marta Marta HOP’ and Histeria Nova (Croatia) for which she received Canada Council funding to travel to Croatia. In 2000, JoDee became a founding member of the all-female breakdance collective Solid State and, she was also part of the breakdance crew ‘Dysfunkshn’ with whom she competed at Breakdance Events in Miami, Los Angeles Toronto, Kingston, Ottawa, and Montreal. JoDee has collaborated in choreographing 3 full evening choreographies; two with Solid State Breakdance Collective, and the newest show “Take it Back”, choreographed with Helen Simard as Co-artistic Directors of the company. She has performed in all her work and has toured with Solid State across Canada and to the B.Supreme festival in London, England.

In 2007, JoDee and Helen performed at the Montreal Chamber Music Festival and in 2008 started collaborating with Denis Brott on his Breakdance with Brott project, an educational workshop series bridging Breakdance, with classical cello mixed with hip hop beats by producer and rapper Jonathon Emeil.

JoDee co-choreographed and danced in Creature’s “Pop Culture” music video and she choreographed and provided movement sourcing for the dance video game “Boogie” for Wii developed by Electronic Arts. In 2004 JoDee and Helen Simard opened Studio Sweatshop, and today JoDee is the owner of one of the only Urban Dance studios in Montreal.
